The Community Forum is recruiting!

WXR community forum chair

The Whipps Cross Community Forum is a network where local people can discuss and give their opinions on local health and care services.

The forum is an independent body with a vision to bring together diverse voices from across the local area to have their say. The Forum is open to anyone who is passionate about or using local services, whether that’s at Whipps Cross or in the community.

There are no fixed criteria for who can join the Forum other than someone should live in the area served by the hospital. This includes the whole of the borough of Waltham Forest, and areas of Redbridge and Essex such as Woodford, Wanstead, Snaresbrook, Loughton, Chigwell and Buckhurst Hill.

As voluntary roles, we have tried to make the role of forum member as flexible as possible. The core commitment is for about 1.5 hours per month. The only fixed time commitment is the ‘virtual’ quarterly meeting, which is generally held on a weekday, 4-6pm or 5-7pm.

How to apply

Please send a short email outlining why you would like to join the Forum to the Chair, Zakriya Mohammed (zakriya.mohammed@nhs.net). There is no fixed deadline for submissions.

“A main aim of the Community Forum is to ensure that community engagement is done well, and that the forum is a reflection of the populations it serves.”

Althea Bart, Head of Community Participation, Whipps Cross Hospital

“The Forum gives local people an opportunity to make their voices - and those of their local community - heard. Members can also benefit from learning the key skills of community engagement which are transferable to many other jobs and roles.”

 Zakriya Mohammed,

Chair of the Whipps Cross Community Forum
