Transforming care
Better patient health and care is at the centre of our plans for the new hospital
Transforming services across the Whipps Cross catchment area
The Whipps Cross redevelopment provides an opportunity to improve healthcare not only within the hospital but across the Whipps Cross catchment area - in Waltham Forest, Redbridge, and parts of West Essex.
Working in partnership, local providers are already transforming key services across our local communities. These ambitious transformation programmes are overseen by an Integrated Delivery Framework (IDF).
Who is involved in the Integrated Delivery Framework (IDF)?
The organisations that make up the IDF are:
- NHS North East London
- Hertfordshire and West Essex NHS
- North East London NHS Foundation Trust
- Barts Health NHS Trust
- Waltham Forest Council
- Redbridge Council
What is the IDF focussing on during 2022/23?
The IDF is currently focussing on three key themes and ten service transformation programmes:

How will progress be reported?
Working with patient and community groups, the IDF is currently developing a transparent annual reporting process. This will follow the progress of service transformation and inform a continual evaluation of capacity assumptions for the new Whipps Cross hospital.
Reporting will not be limited to hospital activity, but also make sure changes in community services and primary care are measured and reported. The report will also identify key indicators on the clinical quality of care and on patient experience.
