Better patient health and care is at the centre of our plans

The new hospital will maximise clinical space, locate services that need to be together in the same area of the building, and use advanced technology to reprovide and enhance existing core services, including maternity and a 24-hour emergency department.

More people will be seen and treated on the same day. More imaging and scanning capacity will enable faster diagnoses.

For patients who are admitted, we now expect all inpatient beds to be in single occupancy rooms.

The new hospital needs to have a flexible and adaptable design so that we can better respond to fluctuating demands for beds, for example, and changing patterns of healthcare delivery in the future.
